Hello ASUS community,

Can someone please point out the difference between ASUS notebook models M60j and X62j?

As far as I can see both are same device, except that X62j comes with a blue-ray, but X62j is nowhere to be found on ASUS website. :wassat:

Furthermore, does somebody know if ASUS will launch another similar notebook with new ATI DX 11 card.
Here is a link to new announced ASUS notebooks, but they do not have all features of X62j.
forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=449206

All the new announced notebooks which I find interesting seem to be missing fingerprint sensor. :(

I am looking to buy a new notebook to replace my M50vm, but I am confused whether to wait for new releases or buy this X62J model.

Thank Kurim. :)

The devices with ATI HD5xxx in the link I provided before look very nice and some of them even has USB 3.0, but they do not seem to have finger print senser anymore :( which I use intensively on my M50vm.

Do you know any new announced device with ATI HD5xxx that has similar features to M60J?

@ Kurim

Any news if ASUS will release the M60-series with ATI HD5xxx series card.

I had the chance to look at N61Jq/PRO64JQ (i7 720qm; 4GB ram ; ATI 5730; USB3.0; Blue-Ray) at the Media Markt today. It is offered at 999€. :woohoo:

Editted:

I take back what I said about the quality of N61JQ/PRO64JQ.
It seems that particular device I saw at MediaMarkt was not good. Maybe somebody dropped or something.

The Keyboard looked lose in that and the back cover also looked lose.

I have seen in general the build quality of N61JQ is ok.

I noted at more than one forum people talking about the overheating and random shutdown of the M60J/X62J notebook when run at full load over a longer time.

As well as people are talking about a big problem where the notebook temperature goes into roof when the power4gear is set to Quiet Office Mode. It seems that in this mode P4G turns the fan off and does not cool the notebook anymore.

Does anybody over here experience a problem like this with M60J?
Please let me know as this will help me to make my decission on buying this machine.

Notebook Journal.de has a review on M60J and they also talk about this problem with P4G:

So my latest finding about M60J is that it seems that ASUS is going to discontinue making this unit. :( :(

I confirmed from an ASUS agent in USA who works at a shop which sells mostly ASUS notebooks.

The model was on their shop and only recently they removed it.

@ Kurim

Long time no see.

Have found out anything concernign the overheating issue with X62J (M60J) that I mentioned two posts up?

I am still interested in buying it.

I have read over 1000 threads in the last week to find out everything about the model M60J. Some people say that ASUS support in their country told them that it's a bios problem and a new bios is coming soon to solve it.

After the problems I had with ASUS F3Jp 3 years ago. I learned that I should inform myself well before buying something that I will use every day.

So after doing some research on this model I think I finally decided not to buy it.

There is an unpatched bios bug which I mentioned here:
www.asustreiber.de/forum/75-windows-7/28...0j-bios-update#28416

I think I will wait for the new ASUS N71JQ notebook. It seems to be better option than M60J.

M60J/X62J has been phased out by ASUS. I think there will not be any new notebook coming in this series.
The new series is N61Jq and N71JQ. Thought I am concerned about the quality of the N71Jq, but there seems not to be too much I can do about it.
If I want an ASUS notebook soon than I have to pick what ASUS has to offer. :silly:

Going to another brand is not something I want to do. Maybe the ASUS service and support system is not the best, but I find it much better than some other brands.
Furthermore, the quality of the ASUS notebook still would be much better than other brands.
Beside, I know where to get help when something goes wrong.

You can look at this reliability chart and ASUS seems to have the best:
