I am considering to buy M50VM-AK014C as replacement to my problematic F3JP notebook.

Does anybody know when this notebook will be released to German market?

I heard so many good things about the M50SV notebook, which is the previous version of this new one.

I hope this new machine would have same or better quality as the M50SV.

Can anybody here provide some more highlights about M50VM?

If anybody here got a chance to test one of these, can they share their knowledge concerning the quality and the fan noise. :)

Editted:
I have this notebook now. B) B)
For anybody else interested in buying this notebook, and would like to see some reviews and benchmarks you can go to the following place: forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=273404

and also

There is also info there about installing XP and getting all the drivers for it.

@ Kurim

Can you than advice me of any other ASUS Centrino 2 notebook which has no dedicated graphic card?

I think GM45 chips are not yet ready, so most probably there is no Centrino 2 product announced with built in graphics.

I need a high performance notebook for work. Many of these high performance notebooks come with a powerful GPU which I never use, becuase I never play games on my notebook.

For games I have an ASUS P5K-premium mainboard based Desktop PC at home.;)

Notebook is my main PC for working everyday. I usaully do lot of simulations especially using Matlab on the notebook.

With the specs I would like to have, I found only this M50Vm:
- Preferable T9400
- WSXGA+ display
- 3GB @ 800MHz of ram (4GB is not useful at all with 32bit windows)
- HDD 320GB or higher
- DVI or HDMI connection for external display connectin.
- Low noise
- Very importantly a very good build quality.

I think you already know that large numbers of nvidia mobile chips especially from 8400 and 8600 series are defective as nvidia has announced recently.

Do you know if the nvidia 9600m chips are also affected by this?

I am feeling concerned as the notebook I am thinking of buying (M50Vm) is using this nvidia chip.
I hope ASUS will also release this model with ATI graphic card. I personally prefer them over nvidia.

Other thing I am concerned about is that there is some sort of keyboard lag issue with M50 series which causes some letters to be missed when typing fast on the built is keyboard. Some people say it's hardware issue and some say it’s Vista problem. However there seems to be also XP and Linux user also reporting this problem on M50 series.
Look here: forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252283
M50Sv is also affect: vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20080527...ge=1&SLanguage=en-us

I am doing lot of research before I buy my next ASUS notebook. I don't want to get into same problems like F3Jp notebook.

Hello,

well turbogear, I have the M50SA-AK013C.
There is
- Intel Centrino Dual Core T9400 (2.5 GHz),
- ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3650 (1 GB VRAM)
- 3 GB RAM
- 320 GB HDD
- Altec Lansing speakers
- BluRay-ODD (BlueRay only read)
...as named as main features inside.

I am very glad with this notebook. It still runs with Vista Home Premium, I made a new installation of the VHP after I got it - since I did the Windows-self-test-index climbs up from 4.3 to 4.7 ...

If only want to work with them, it is maybe a number too high. But anyway, it rocks solid - as advertidement says.

I still had no problem with the ATI graphical display...

...just all fine !

I also know the models from american markets with nvidia display. Regarding to the already cited problems with their GPU I would recommend to use the european/german model ASUS M50-AK013C.

It looks really good, is -with my opinion- decent understatement ;) and will be an eye-catcher.
You will have a lot of fun with this notebook, and it seems to be a real friend to me.
The size is 15.4 inch - big enough for real goof view and small enough to get carried to all places.

The battery with my notebook is strong enough for app. 3 hours work with wireless lan.
The Standard keypad is comfortable and it's easy to type, also with the separate num-block (what a great idea !!!).

So should you have some more questions, then ask here, i will answer you as soon as I can.

This model is already avalaible, recommended sales-price by ASUS is 1.699,- Euro's.
But you can already find it for a cheaper prices around 1.500,- Euro's...

Best Reagrds,

nayss :)

@ nayss

Thanks for the info.
I think you meant T9300 (FSB @ 800Mhz) in your post?

As a matter of fact I have already looked at ASUS M50SA-AK013C before.

It is interesting but I would like to buy Centrino 2 based system.

Do you know if ASUS will release Centrino2 M50-series with an ATI graphic card?

I really prefer to have ATI graphic card over the NVIDIA.
All my notebooks so far came with ATI cards. NVIDIA maybe be dominating in game benchmarks, but I had some bad experiences with them on desktop PCs.

At the moment, I trying to convince ASUS to give some compensation on my new purchase of their product due to many problems that I faced with F3jp model.
Here is link to my other post on F3jp:

F3JP was really disappointing but I know ASUS also makes great products.

One bad product is not enough to make me lose confidence in ASUS. :)

currently i don't find any M50Va or M50Vr only M50Vm or M50Vc.

so i dont think there will come a M50 with ATi, but it is MXM so it might possible to change the card, to what ever u want :)

One bad product is not enough to make me lose confidence in ASUS.

first time heard ^^ every one said one time bad i will never buy again and sell all my other asus stuff
